People and Development (PAD) is established by a group of professionals involved variedly in media, development, education, business and others as a movement aiming in bringing a new and innovative approach to assist in rebuilding New Nepal, defying the conventional concept of charity and development and prefiguring a new concept of rights, activism and building consensus on broader level. PAD primarily works through advocacy in protecting and promoting rights by lobbying, campaigning, discourse, pressure groups, and social conscientisation. It is a network and cluster of more than 75 Non-Government, Clubs, community-based, forums, and grass-roots organisations in over 25 districts of Nepal. |

PAD has been conducting a project aimed to promote the study and discussion of democratic thought, foundation and principles, reintegration and development issues. It aims to promote a culture of study and discussion among Nepal’s politically minded adults and youths and eventually help develop new leadership. The program supports to help to deal democratic way in public forums and explain and defend democratic thought and principles in front of a sometimes skeptical public. It has been executing at five different development regions through the support of local partner Ngo’s.

PAD conducts youth discussion series every week among the private college going students as well as in public colleges. The rationale of the project is to make aware the youth (16-25yrs) age groups on the issues related to inclusive democracy, constituent assembly, non-violence, participation, reintegration etc. The students become PAD’s volunteers and get engaged with the other PAD’s project. |

The program aims to bringing together young professionals from different professions such as media, sports, technical sectors, development sectors, civil service, banking etc to enhance their contribution in strengthening democratic values and practices through their involvement in discourses, discussions etc with young political leaders of different political parties, in such a way that the young leaders can lobby the problems and ideas of those stakeholders to their respective party leaders and decision making levels of state. Engaging with C.A members to accelerate progress of MDGs in NepalAchieving MDGs in 2015, PAD has been supporting to UNMC, Nepal by conducting programs engaging with Constituent Assembly members, policy makers and other stakeholders through advocacy, campaign and lobby.Youth Issues Identified1.2 Issues related to Cultural and Social Solidarity Committee 1. Nepali language must be the lingual Franca (link language) between the central government and federal/local government. There should be a system of availability of interpreter in the court, government, administration and other government agencies so that people can express in their own mother tongue.
